AWS Academy is a learning platform which provides you with the opportunity to access high-quality AWS training materials. As part of Skills53, participants in the regional championships can receive free access to two AWS Academy courses designed to help them prepare for the regionals.

The two courses that we offer are:

  • AWS Academy - Cloud Foundations: A foundational course which covers key AWS infrastructure topics. It is structured as a guided tutorial with various modules and also includes hands-on labs.
  • AWS Academy - Learner Lab: A sandbox environment which allows you to explore AWS services hands-on without having to worry about potentially excessive costs. You will receive 50 USD in free credits to use.

These resources are provided at no cost. Training for regional championships is optional, but can be helpful to better prepare yourself for the competition.

If you are interested in training using these resources, please use the link on the competition page for the current regional championship to register your interest. Please note that access is only available a few months before the regional championship takes place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay for these courses? No, as long as you will be a participant in the upcoming regional championship, you can access these courses free of charge.

What happens after I register my interest? We manually review all registrations and will send you email invitations for both courses within a couple of days. Please note that each course comes with its own registration invite, so you will receive two separate emails.

My school already provides AWS Academy, do I still need to register? If you have access to the same courses, there is no need to register again, as there is no added benefit. If you do not have access, just register normally.

Are these courses required to compete? No, the regionals are specifically structured to not require prior knowledge of AWS. However, being familiar with AWS services can be beneficial during the competition, and these courses provide a great opportunity to learn more.
